FUNK FOUNDATIONS #12 / Tribute to DAYTON, OHIO // 12.05.21

As we are completing one full year of the show on radio.D59B.com I would like to thank you for tuning in and being part of my funk story and all groove related styles
Today it is exclusively funk show, tribute to a small Midwest town… that in the 70’s and 80’s had the highest number of funk bands per capita. Ladies and gents, I pay tribute to the funk capitol of the world, Dayton – Ohio.
Geographically positioned b/w Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Historically, it is best known for the founders of flight …the Wright Brothers
But on this show I will focus on Dayton’s music scene. From my private vinyl collection, I will play funk bands and artists from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s that achieved huge int’l success and some deserve bigger recognition. I guess there really must have been something in the water…or maybe in the air around Dayton…for having so much creativity.
Without further ado, stow your luggage away, fasten your seatbelts and get ready for take-off into the land of funk…
